This notice describes the current AEONION publication and its contact email. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@aeonion.com. External websites and social platforms have their own privacy practices.
The publication offers an optional email newsletter, AEONION Weekly. Article and note discussions use private email verification and a display name, without public reader profiles or passwords. The publication does not offer checkout.
Information you send
If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message, and your selected topic (or attachments sent by email). We use this information to respond, evaluate story suggestions or corrections, and maintain relevant correspondence. Please do not send medical records, passwords, or information you are not authorized to share.
The contact form uses Resend to deliver your message to our Zoho Mail inbox. The form stores no message body in Sanity; private keyed hashes and temporary counters in Sanity limit repeated submissions. These counters are eligible for daily cleanup after expiry. Sending a message does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
AEONION Weekly
If you subscribe, beehiiv processes your email address, consent and subscription status, signup time and source, and technical information such as your IP address and browser. We use these records to confirm your request, send the newsletter, manage delivery and preferences, and prevent abuse. Submitting the signup form requests a subscription to AEONION Weekly. New subscribers must confirm their email address before receiving editions.
The embedded signup form is provided by beehiiv. Loading or using it sends information to that provider. Newsletter delivery and analytics can record delivery failures, email opens, and link clicks; opens may be measured using a tracking image and are not always reliable. We use available engagement information to understand readership and improve the newsletter.
You can unsubscribe through the link in each email or contact support@aeonion.com. We retain subscriber records while needed to provide the newsletter and retain unsubscribe or suppression records where needed to honor your choice. We may securely export these records for backup or migration, preserving unsubscribe status. We do not sell the newsletter subscriber list.
Website delivery and browser storage
Vercel hosts the website, and Sanity provides its editorial content and media. Requests to these services can involve technical information such as an IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time for delivery, security, and troubleshooting. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own.
The website saves your theme and reading preferences and bookmarked articles in browser local storage. Notes use session storage to remember expanded entries and your position in the feed. You can remove these by clearing site data. A signed cookie, lasting up to 24 hours, limits repeat article-read counts from the same browser; aggregate counts help rank popular articles. Editorial previews are excluded. Protected previews and the editorial workspace also use authentication mechanisms supplied by their providers.
Reader comments are stored in Sanity for editorial review. Approved comments display the name and text you submit; pending and rejected comments are not shown publicly. A keyed hash derived from connection information limits repeated comment submissions without retaining the raw address in the comment record. Contact support@aeonion.com to request removal of a comment. We have not added advertising pixels or an advertising system to the publication. Social links are ordinary links, not embedded social feeds. Following one takes you to that platform, where its own policies apply.
Website readership measurement
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page views, visits, referral sources, approximate countries, device and browser categories, and page performance. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies or browser storage to track individual visitors or create advertising profiles. Technical requests are processed by Cloudflare to produce these reports.
Newsletter attribution helps us understand which links bring readers to the signup form. The beehiiv signup integration forwards campaign parameters from the page to beehiiv; these can be associated with a subscriber’s signup record. We do not send comment text, verification codes, or contact messages as analytics events.
Article and note discussions and verification
To comment, reply, or report a comment, readers verify access to an email address using a six-digit code. Verification confirms inbox access, not identity or scientific qualifications. We collect the email address, chosen display name, comments, reports, verification times, and limited abuse-prevention records. We use these to verify access, remember sign-in, moderate discussion, and respond to removal requests. This does not subscribe you to AEONION Weekly or promotional email.
Sanity stores discussion records in our private dataset. Verification email addresses are encrypted in those records. Resend processes the recipient address and verification message to deliver the code when email verification is enabled. Email is never included in public comment data. Approved comments and replies show your display name, text, and date; reports and pending or rejected comments remain private.
A secure, HTTP-only sign-in cookie remembers this browser for up to 30 days. Signing out revokes that session. Verification codes expire after 10 minutes and can be used only once. We keep a keyed hash of connection information to limit repeated attempts. Unfinished comments are saved in session storage in your browser tab; clearing site data removes them.
Expired verification, session, and rate-limit records are eligible for the next daily cleanup. Pending and rejected comments, and resolved reports, are eligible for deletion after 90 days without an update. Unblocked reader verification records are eligible after a year of inactivity; blocked identifiers may be retained to prevent repeated abuse. Cleanup runs in limited batches. Approved comments remain while relevant to the article unless removed by moderation or a deletion request. Provider logs and backups follow their separate retention practices.
Contact support@aeonion.com to request access, correction, or removal. We may ask you to verify the email associated with your comments. Removing a verification record alone does not automatically remove already-published comments; you can request both.
Use, retention, and disclosure
Information is used to operate and protect the publication, handle correspondence, and meet applicable obligations. It may be processed by the service providers needed for those purposes, or disclosed when required by law. AEONION does not sell reader correspondence or use it for targeted advertising.
Correspondence should be retained only while needed to address an enquiry, document an editorial decision, or meet a legal obligation, and reviewed for deletion when no longer needed. Infrastructure logs and backups follow the relevant provider settings and retention practices. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and requests
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or object to or restrict certain processing. Email support@aeonion.com to make a request. We may need to verify that the request relates to you and will respond in accordance with applicable requirements.
